The Wise house Martin

Do you know how the house martin came to live among people? It is that she understood that the mistletoe growing on trees could be made into a strong glue by men. This could be used to trap birds, because in those days people caught and ate them. When the house martin warned the other birds to be careful, they simply laughed at her. So she went to the people in the village and begged them not to trap the other birds in this way. They were so impressed by her cleverness and kindness that they invited her to live with them. And, ever after, the house martins have made their nests under the roofs of people's houses.
