Krishna in Mathura - How the Prophesied Savior Emerged

Introduction:

About 5,000 years ago, Mathura, nestled by the Yamuna River, was controlled by the ruthless King Kansa, who even locked up his own father to claim power. The city lived under fear, until one day, a royal wedding sparked hope - and fear for Kansa.

The Prophecy and the Prison

When Devaki married Vasudev, the palace filled with hope. But Kansa, sly as ever, thought this alliance meant his rule would end. As he escorted the couple, a divine voice boomed: "Your sister Devaki's eighth child will be your end!"

Terrified but cunning, Kansa spared Devaki-on one hard condition: every child she bore had to be handed over. He then locked Devaki and Vasudev in a dark dungeon and killed their first seven babies.

Krishna's Birth and Miraculous Escape

When Devaki's eighth child came, the dungeon lit up with divine light. Guards slept, doors opened on their own, and Vasudev carried baby Krishna safely across the raging Yamuna-where the river calmed and a divine snake sheltered them.

He reached Gokul, switched Krishna with Yashoda's newborn daughter, and rushed back. As Kansa arrived, Devaki's girl transformed into a fierce goddess who warned him: "Your killer is born and will soon come for you." Kansa, shocked and humiliated, freed the parents-but grief over losing Krishna lingered.

Joy in Gokul and a Future in Mathura

In Gokul, baby Krishna was welcomed like a hero. His blue skin, sparkling eyes, and calm smile marked him as divine. Yashoda and Nanda loved him dearly, and soon the entire cowherd community celebrated his birth.

Meanwhile, Kansa's grip on Mathura began to falter-fate was already shifting, and destiny was calling Krishna home.

This marks only the start of Krishna's journey-the battles, the miracles, and the love that would soon sweep across the land of Braj.
