One day, Krishna and his cowherd buddies were out in the forest playing with calves as usual. All of a sudden, an enormous black serpent appeared, it had fiery eyes and a mouth stretched like a mountain cave. This was Aghasura, sent by Kansa to take revenge on Krishna after his siblings Putana and Bakasura were defeated.
The boys thought it was a cave and led their calves right inside. Curious, Krishna followed them, too. The moment they were inside, the demon snapped his jaws, suffocating the boys and animals.
Seeing his friends trapped, Krishna acted fast. He expanded himself wildly inside Aghasura's throat. The demon tried to match him, but Krishna grew bigger and tighter. Aghasura started choking, his eyes popped, breath failed and he died within seconds.
Once Aghasura died, Krishna brought all the boys and calves out, fully safe-no scratches or bruises. The heavens erupted in celebration. Demigods rained flowers and played drums while BrahmÄ himself appeared to honor Krishna.
After that, the cave-like mouth of the serpent remained in Vrindavan for days. Kids played over it, pointing out how their friend Krishna turned danger into a playground.
