Before swords were drawn and the battlefield of Kurukshetra thundered with war cries, Krishna made one last effort to stop it all. He went to Hastinapur as an ambassador of peace on behalf of the Pandavas to speak to the Kuru elders and Duryodhana.
Krishna didn’t ask for half the kingdom. He didn’t even ask for five cities. All he asked for was five villages—just enough for the Pandavas to live peacefully. His words echoed in the hall with calm clarity.
“Give them even five humble villages, and the war can be avoided.”
But Duryodhana was unmoved. He stood tall, sneered, and said, “I won’t give them land the size of a needle's tip.” The court went silent. The elders, including Bhishma and Vidura, looked away in shame. Krishna had given them one last chance—and they had blown it.
When Duryodhana tried to arrest Krishna right there in court, the Lord revealed his divine form. Hundreds of eyes, arms, and faces shone with blinding light. It was Vishwarupa, the universal form. The court fell to their knees. Duryodhana, stunned but unrepentant, walked away.
Krishna returned to the Pandavas with heavy news. War was now unavoidable. But no one could say they weren’t warned.
