It was the grand Rajasuya Yagna hosted by Yudhishthira in Indraprastha. Royals, sages, warriors, and dignitaries had gathered. When the time came to choose the guest of honor, everyone agreed Krishna was the most deserving. But not everyone was pleased.
Shishupal, the king of Chedi, stood up, fuming with anger. He couldn't tolerate Krishna being praised. With fire in his eyes, he started insulting Krishna-one insult after another, not caring for the decorum of the gathering or the warnings he had received earlier.
Krishna had once promised Shishupal's mother that he would forgive 100 insults from him. This was not news to Krishna. He stood calm, counting each word.
As Shishupal crossed the line with his 101st insult, Krishna raised his hand. The Sudarshan Chakra spun silently into the air. In a blink, it shot through the court, slicing off Shishupal's head cleanly. Silence fell over the assembly.
What shocked everyone wasn't the death, but what followed. A divine light left Shishupal's body and merged into Krishna. Even in hatred, Shishupal had constantly thought of Krishna-and in the end, his soul found peace.
The Yagna continued, but no one forgot that day, the day Krishna reminded everyone who he truly was.
