The Celestial Parijataka Tree

During the Samudra Manthan (the churning of the ocean), the gods acquired the Parijataka tree, known for its divine fragrance. They planted this celestial tree in the garden of Indra, the king of gods.

The Gift of Fragrance

One day, the sage Narada visited Indra's garden. He collected some fallen blossoms from the Parijataka tree and gifted them to Rukmini, Lord Krishna's wife. Rukmini was overjoyed. However, when Satyabhama, Krishna's other wife,

smelled the divine fragrance, she became envious and demanded that Krishna bring the entire tree to her.

A Heavenly Dispute

To please Satyabhama, Krishna defeated Indra and brought the Parijataka tree to Earth. This, however, sparked a quarrel between his two wives, as both desired the tree for their own gardens.

The Clever Solution

To resolve the dispute and satisfy both of his wives, Krishna devised a clever plan. He planted the tree in Satyabhama's courtyard in such a way that while the tree's roots were in her home, all of its blossoms fell into

Rukmini's courtyard. This ingenious solution ensured that both wives were happy and the divine fragrance was enjoyed by all. Lord Krishna with a glowing Parijataka tree, whose blossoms are falling on two separate palace balconies of his wives, Rukmini and Satyabhama Lord Krishna cleverly finds a solution to a domestic dispute by planting the divine Parijataka tree
